Joe French, Trainee Solicitor
"There is an excellent balance
between support and responsibility, which means you can really get
involved. Personal development is crucial, but being able to grow
into part of a team makes working here extremely
rewarding."

Shaping your career
Browne Jacobson are accredited with Investors in People and for
3 consecutive years has been voted one of the top 10 law firms to
train with (LEX Magazine). This success demonstrates Browne
Jacobson's continued commitment to the development of trainees and
employees.
Your training with Browne Jacobson will be both practical and
structured, and will take place in a friendly and supportive
environment. You will spend four periods of six months working in
some of the principal areas of the firm, will obtain an overview of
our practice, and experience the realities and pressure of working
in a leading law firm.
In order to help you make an immediate contribution in your
first six-month seat, your training contract will begin with a
comprehensive induction programme, which includes a "fast track"
PSC within the first 2 weeks of joining. We have also introduced a
series of learning modules which on completion lead to trainees
being awarded a certificate from the Institute of Leadership and
Management. As well as technical training, you can expect a full
skills training programme including marketing, "working the room",
time management and stress management. During your training with us
you can expect to be given responsibilities and with appropriate
support and supervision you will be developing your skill by
working on your own cases.
Our system of three and six monthly appraisals ensures that
there is a regular review of your progress allowing you the
opportunity to discuss and assess at regular intervals your
training, your strengths, and any areas where improvement is
required with your current supervisor. Our training principal
operates an open door policy and is available whenever required to
discuss progress or any other issues that arise.
Training contract structure
The training contract is structured to offer 4 seats, each
lasting 6 months. We are recruiting trainees principally for our
Nottingham and Birmingham offices. We also encourage trainees to
spend at least one of their four seats in our other offices to gain
a better picture of the firm as a whole. A generous relocation
package is available to cover time spent in the other offices.
