"The standard of work I've experienced, the firm's commitment to high quality training and the numerous social events that trainees here get involved in, have meant that I've felt like an integral part of Browne Jacobson since day one. There's a great buzz about the firm and I can't imagine training anywhere else."

Browne Jacobson's 3 offices offer all employees a vibrant social life for those who want to become involved, and you are encouraged to do so. Trainee specific events include the Annual Trainees balls (in Nottingham and Birmingham), and Trainee away day, as well as many social events organised by the trainees themselves.

In addition, the firm places great importance on getting involved and organises regular events including the very popular annual flit-quiz and Treasure Hunt along with other events too numerous to mention.

We also have various sporting teams to which newcomers are always welcome, including running and football.

Charity & pro bono

Browne Jacobson has long been committed to providing free legal advice to individuals and good causes. As a well-established regional practice the partners and all employees of the firm consider it their professional and social responsibility to provide such assistance to the local community. Half of the firm's staff have already committed themselves to Pro-Bono Projects with over 1100 hours completed in the last 24 months.

The legal pro bono committee is involved in providing the following:

Advice and Representation under the Criminal Injuries and Compensation Scheme. (CICA)

  • Citizens Advice Bureau
  • Fundays Charity
  • Princes Trust
  • ProHelp

The non-legal pro bono 'community action committee' co-ordinates the firm's non-legal charity and community work. The committee's theme this year is 'children' and that theme has prompted the involvement in the following projects:

  • Reading in Schools
  • Childline
  • Nottingham in Bloom
