overview

The 2007 Remedies Directive has generated a great deal of interest - and trepidation - among authorities awarding public contracts. The Directive will be fully implemented into the UK's own legal landscape from December - with all that it entails for purchasers who get their procurement processes wrong.

Tough, expensive new sanctions will be enforced where procurement rules are ignored or standstills not adhered to. As well as wasted costs and profit claims from aggrieved suppliers, adverse audit scrutiny and the damage to an authority's reputation; any mistakes may topple an even higher tower of dominoes. Signed contracts may have to be torn up on the orders of a court and, where work on a public project has already started, the cost to the public purse could be immense.

In this interactive session we take a close look at the things you will need to do differently day-to-day and the simple but robust steps you can take to make sure the right things happen at the right time - adopting effective safeguards to ensure you avoid disaster.
