Ben Troke
Associate Solicitor
Ben is an associate solicitor with the firm, having joined in
2002. He is based at the firm's Nottingham office where he
specialises in clinical negligence and health law.
The majority of Ben's work is in clinical negligence, but he has
also been involved in general advice on issues such as the disposal
of medical equipment, and CCTV video policy, and specific cases
involving consent or refusal of treatment, and injunctions against
abusive patients.
Ben was a trainee in Claimant medical negligence and personal
injury work, and has previously worked in Defendant medical product
liability at Eversheds where he was seconded for some months onto
the Shipman public inquiry investigation team. Ben has completed a
Masters degree in medical law and ethics part time, with
distinction, winning the Prize for the top marks in the year. He is
currently the Chair of Nottingham University based medical law and
ethics group LEIGHS. He was runner up as Assistant Solicitor of the
Year in the Lawyer Awards in 2006.
Away from work he reads almost anything, and sees as many films
as possible - mainly European and art house cinema. He plays the
piano, follows Arsenal, runs half marathons once in a while. He is
a business mentor for the Princes Trust and has 5 years experience
as a telephone counsellor at Childline.
