our people
 |
As a
professional services firm our people are critical to our ongoing
success. Our accreditation as one of the Top 100 Best
Professional Services Firms to Work For in the country
demonstrates our success in attracting great people and encouraging
them to deliver their very best in an environment where they feel
valued, respected and empowered. |
|
558
organisations participated in the Best Companies 2008 survey and we
are pleased to have been acknowledged once again as one of the few
law firms to have been awarded Best Companies status. This year we
decided to participate in the star rating scheme and have been
awarded 'one to watch' status. |
 |
We pride ourselves on our recruitment strategy and this was
acknowledged at The Lawyer HR Awards 2008 when we were awarded Best
Graduate Trainee Recruitment Campaign of the Year Award.

|
People are at
the heart of our business and ensure that we are able to offer
superior client service. We were delighted to be ranked
47th in the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work for
2006. This is a huge accolade for a firm of our size and
highlights our proven track record of attracting and retaining
outstanding people. |
|
We are also
proud of our below average employee turnover figures and our
Investors in People accreditation. In addition, we have been
recognised as one of the top 10 law firms to train with in the UK
for the last four years running. |
 |
Last year the firm received top honours at the Managing Partners
Forum 2006 European Practice Management Awards. We were awarded
joint first prize for 'best managed firm' alongside global law firm
Linklaters, winning the most prestigious award of the night and we
were second in the 'best brand in practice' category.
The best-managed firm accolade is awarded to the firm that has
demonstrated exceptional returns, strong growth and innovative
strategies plus leadership in its chosen markets. We were
delighted that the judges highlighted the fact that we take a wider
view of success than just financial success, as evidenced by some
of the balanced measures we apply.

In October 2007, the firm was awarded the Jobcentre Plus
Disability Accreditation demonstrating our commitment to providing
equal opportunities in employment and ensuring that all
applications are treated fairly and equally.
We welcome applications from disabled people who meet our
minimum criteria, and are committed to ensuring fair and equal
access to learning and development, providing support for people
within the firm with disabilities and raising disability
awareness.

In 2007 we received Tommy’s Pregnancy Accreditation, an award
developed to promote health in the work place during pregnancy.
Tommy's is the National baby charity which, as well as funding
research, also promotes health and well-being and information to
parents-to-be during pregnancy.
To achieve this accreditation, we met specific criteria
supporting the welfare and management of pregnancies from
notification to returning from maternity leave.

our technology
 |
Investing in
leading-edge technology that benefits both our people and our
clients is a key part of our growth strategy. We were nominated for
the Legal technology Awards 2007. |
Previous accolades include winner of “Best use of IT” at the
Managing Partners Forum European Practice Management Awards and
runner up in the LOTIES awards for “IT team of the Year” and
“Workflow/Case Management System” competing against larger national
firms. Our ongoing commitment to technology was recognised in 2005
when we were short-listed again for the European Managing Partners
Forum award for Best Use of IT.
We were also delighted that our standard of internal training
has been successfully accredited as Gold from the Institute of IT
Training, one of only 26 firms to be given the accreditation. We
were also short-listed in the training initiative of the year in
the Legal Technology Awards 2006.
our community
We were the only regional organisation to be short-listed for
'Best Corporate Citizen' at the MPF 2005 European Practice
Management Awards, beating Clifford Chance and Deloittes, and
achieving third place overall. The Best Corporate Citizen category
is awarded to firms who have made managing its community and
environmental impact an integral part of its business
operation.
The firm also scooped top honours in the 2005 Nottinghamshire
Law Society awards, picking up the Pro-Bono and Charity Firm of the
Year. This recognised the significant contribution of the firm to
the local community.
